Kashmir Valley has witnessed number of Militant against Operations this year. Though the holy month of Ramadhan was virtually peaceful due to ceasefire called by the Union Government on a request made by than Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti during her PDP-BJP collation government.
Eventually, Figures suggests that 227 militants have been killed in different parts of Kashmir so far this year. The killed militants belonged to different organisations, however the Lashkar and Hizbul Mujahideen suffered major losses this month as both groups lost some of their top commanders, especially in south Kashmir, which has become a hotbed of militancy. Last year, 207 militants were killed in this period.
Pertinently, the November has witnessed the killing of nearly 37 militants across the valley, including nine commanders of Hizbul Mujahideen and Lashkar-e-Toiba outfits making it bloodiest month of this year for the militants.
Among the Top most commanders killed in gunfights is the escaped Militant commander and Chief Operational head of Lashkar outfit Naveed Jhat alias Abu Hanzulla. AMU scholar turned militant commander Manan Wani is also among the top commanders gunned down this year.
The number of militants at present is hovering around 250. After several successful operations, the graph of militancy, especially in south Kashmir, has come down and fresh recruitment has also declined.
15 top militant commanders affiliated with Jaish-e-Mohammad, Lashkar, Hizbul Mujahideen, Harkat-ul- Mujahideen and Ansar–ul-Gazwat- ul-Hind were killed in different operations launched by the forces. Even the militant modules that were helping commanders and several hideouts were busted.
