Threaten mass protests, shutdown, road blockades if authorities fail to reach out.
Srinagar:-The residents of Lahikoot Londa village of Monabal area in north Kashmir’s Langate constituency crying for portable water facility for the last twenty five years are keeping a well locked to fetch water in the hours of crisis.
A legion of aggrieved residents told KNS that the villagers keep the well locked to preserve water for using it in the hours of crisis as otherwise portable water facility has become a dream which didn’t come true for the last twenty five years. The villagers have many a times in the past represented to the government, staged protests and blocked roads but the authorities are yet to reach out to these villagers who are crying for portable water facility since last twenty five years. The villagers have threatened to start indefinite shutdown and block the roads in the main roads in the area if the authorities of PHE department fail to reach out to them with a plan for time bound construction of a water supply scheme in the area.
