Srinagar, Sep 15 (KTNS): Government forces allegedly went berserk in Beighpora village of Awantipora in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district and ransacked the houses belonging to close relatives of Hizb commander Riyaz Naikoo.

A local said the forces barged inside the houses of Nazir Ahmad Naikoo and Nisar Ahmad Naikoo and carried out searches. During the searches, the local alleged that the forces ransacked their belongings.

The operation, according to an official, was carried out following inputs about the existence of Riyaz Naikoo’s hiding place.

Search lights were installed near Jamia Masjid Wani Mohalla of Beighpora and a JCB was also pressed into service that dug up the park of Jamia Masjid Beighpora besides the courtyard of Naikoo’s relatives.

A top police official of the district, however, denied the allegations of ransacking of houses. He said searches were carried out following inputs about the presence of a hideout.
